BOC TennisThe Brattleboro Outing Club Tennis Facility located at 202 Cedar Street in Brattleboro, Vermont is home to 6 of the nicest, best maintained red clay courts in all of New England. With the rustic charm and casual setting of the 30’s era tennis Clubhouse, low membership fee, and relaxed family oriented atmosphere, the BOC Tennis Facility and relevant programs offer a superb athletic opportunity to residents of all ages in the Brattleboro area. Depending upon the weather, the tennis season runs from late April until early November. The BOC Membership year runs from November 1st until October 31st but program fees can be paid at the beginning of the tennis season. In order to play tennis each adult must be a BOC member and the fee ($25) is included in the Tennis Program fee of $160. Children under the age of 21 are granted free tennis membership when they are signed-up with a parent or guardian. Otherwise, the Junior membership fee is $40/year, which includes the BOC membership. Remember, this fee only applies to junior memberships without accompanying Adult membership. $25 of the $160 membership fee will be refunded to all adult members who volunteer to work at least 1 hour at the Spring Work Days and 1 hour at the Fall Work Days or do 2 hours of volunteer work by arrangement. This price structure is dependent on volunteer participation to do much of the work necessary to run the tennis program and is designed to provide some additional incentive for members to volunteer services. Historically, BOC has always been a volunteer driven organization, but the busy and chaotic schedules of many modern day families make time for volunteer work precious. The Tennis Committee and the BOC Board encourage you to participate by volunteering time. Your participation will allow BOC to remain affordable and retain its unique character. Membership to the Club is accomplished by filling out the BOC Registration form located on this website or in the BOC Newsletter. Completed and signed registration forms with payment can be sent to the BOC, Post Office Box 335, Brattleboro, VT or (during the tennis season) left in the guess fee slot at the tennis clubhouse. Sorry, but we do not currently have the ability to process registrations on-line. After the registration is received and processed the applicant(s) will receive back via email (or US Mail if an email address is not available) a welcome letter to the Club and instructions for court reservations. During the Tennis season there are numerous special programs and events offered by the Club for both Adult and Junior members. This schedule is published in the spring edition of the BOC bi-annual newsletter, which is mailed to all BOC members. The yearly schedule and pertinent announcements will be published on this website. Some of the more notable offerings include Club Mixers, Singles and Doubles Leagues and Tournaments, and Brattleboro tennis Academy offerings. The Club has a Tennis Committee consisting of 6-9 members who volunteer their time to conduct the business of the Tennis program. Monthly meetings currently occur on the first Monday of the month, 6:30PM, at the clubhouse during good weather, or at a prescheduled location in the off-season. These meetings are open to all members. Any member interested in joining the Tennis Committee or helping run the Club is invited to contact Sallyann Engel.
